Why choose BLISS Soaps?
There are literally thousands of soap manufacturers, so many in fact that the market has become saturated. This saturation has created the need for soap manufacturers to seek out less expensive ingredients and quicker methods of manufacturing in order to make money. Their answer is Sodium laureth and lauryl sulfates, potassium hydroxide compounds, synthetic oils, and other unnatural synthetic cleaning compounds. The true soap making process of combining fats (coconut, olive, palm, castor bean, macadamia nut...) with caustic potash (obtained from sea plants and other hardwood ashes) creates natural glycerin. It was not long before soap manufacturers realized that the glycerin created from this natural process is a much more lucrative product than the soap itself. These big manufacturers started adding salt to their soap mixtures, causing the natural occurring glycerin to separate from the mixture, which is then drained off and sold separately. After glycerin is removed from soap, a harsh, brittle substance remains that is grated into flakes and sold as soap flakes. These flakes are commonly used as laundry detergents, heavy duty de-greasers, and, most commonly, by the majority of bar soap manufacturers today. These soap flakes are very inexpensive and provide no benefits to the skin; they are simply fragrance and soap flakes compacted into bars and sold as "Milled Soaps."
BLISS Soaps goes back to tradition using all-vegetable based oils and caustic potash. All of the naturally occurring glycerin is retained in our soaps and 10% more is added to every batch. Glycerin is a superior humectant (moisture magnet) and no soap should be without it. BLISS Soaps has gone a few extra steps by adding fresh fruit, vegetables, grains, herbs, botanicals, and plant nut butters (Shea butter, aloe butter, sal butter, mango butter, macadamia nut butter, hemp butter, olive butter and cocoa butter) We also use superior quality fragrance and essential oils and NEVER USE PERFUMES!
There are very few things that we come in contact with as close and as often as soap. Even though a product may contain a small percentage of a harmful ingredient, daily exposure 2 or 3 times a day add up quickly.
